Purpose: On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), you are cordially invited to a Virtual Public Meeting and an In-Person Construction Open House to learn about the SR 5/US 1 Resurfacing
Project in the City of Stuart. The project will begin construction in June 2023.
The Virtual Public Meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 1, 2023, 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Please use the following link to register: https://bit.ly/3VlbsaI. The In-person Construction Open House is scheduled for Thursday, June 1, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the City of Stuart Commission, Commission Chambers, located at 121 SW Flagler Avenue, Stuart, FL 34994. This meeting will have an informal open house format with project representatives available to answer questions and provide assistance at any time during the meeting.
Notices are being sent to all property owners and tenants within the construction corridor and to other public officials, regulatory agencies, organizations, and individuals who expressed interest in the project.

Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study

On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), you and your staff are invited to the First Alternatives Public Workshop for the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for the above referenced project. A PD&E Study is FDOT’s process to evaluate the social, economic, and environmental impacts associated with a planned transportation improvement project. The purpose of this project is to improve intersection capacity and address future traffic
demand. The project will also improve safety and enhance modal interrelationships with bicycle, pedestrian, and transit modes. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. § 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26,2022, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and FDOT.
The First Alternatives Public Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (In-Person), and Thursday, June 22, 2023 (Virtual). There are two ways to participate in the meeting:
¿ In-Person: The First Alternatives Public Workshop will be held at ArtServe located at 1350 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. The First Alternatives Public Workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m.
¿ Virtual: Persons who do not wish to attend the First Alternatives Public Workshop in person can join the workshop virtually at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023. To join the workshop, please use the following link https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/ 4247915226381611354. If using a mobile device, the free “GoToWebinar” application is required to attend. Please allow adequate log-in time to view the presentation in its entirety.
The same information will be presented at both the in-person and virtual First Alternatives Public Workshop, so attending both is not necessary.
Participants are requested to register in advance for the virtual First Alternatives Public Workshop by visiting the project website at https://www.fdot.gov/projects/US1GatewayPDE. All exhibits presented at the First Alternatives Public Workshop can be viewed electronically on the project website. Accommodations can be made to address any questions by contacting the FDOT Project Manager at the contact information noted at the end of this notice. Questions and comments may be submitted via the virtual chat feature for project personnel to address during the virtual First Alternatives Public Workshop.
