Purpose:
Florida's Community Traffic Safety Teams (CTST) are local groups of highway safety advocates who are committed to solving traffic safety problems through a comprehensive, multi-jurisdictional, multi-disciplinary approach. Members include local city, county, state, and occasionally federal agencies, as well as private industry representatives and local citizens.
 
The goal of the CTST is to reduce crashes and improve traffic safety in our community. We feel that by working together we can more effectively address these issues.

Construction Open House -US 1 (SE Salerno Rd to SE Fischer St) in Stuart

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this Open House to discuss the upcoming construction on US 1 between SE Salerno Road and SE Fischer Street in the City of Stuart.
 
The Open House will have an informal format. no formal presentation will be made. Project plans and diagrams will be on display and staff will be available to discuss the project, answer questions and address individual concerns.
 
Project improvements include:
  • Removing old asphalt and resurfacing all travel lanes, turn lanes and shoulders in the project limits
  • Upgrading sidewalk and pedestrian ramps
  • Upgrading pedestrian signal heads at three signalized intersections
  • Upgrading signs and pavement markings
 
Traffic impacts during construction:
  • One or two travel lanes may be closed Sunday through Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Construction is expected to begin July 9, 2018 with anticipated completion in early 2019. The cost of this construction project is $4.027 million.

Public Hearing: SR 845/Powerline Road @ NW 59 Court Improvements

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will conduct a Public Hearing regarding the proposed intersection improvement project on State Road 845/Powerline Road at NW 59 Court in Fort Lauderdale.
 
The hearing will begin as an informal open house at 6 p.m.
A formal presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. followed by a public comment and Q&A period. Project plans and diagrams will be on display and staff will be available through the hearing to discuss the project, answer questions and receive public comments.
 
The proposed improvements include:
  • Constructing a directional median opening on Powerline road at NW 59 Court
  • Constructing a new traffic signals for buses to access the Cypress Creek Tri-Rail Station
  • Improving street lighting at the intersection
  • Removing old asphalt and resurfacing Powerline Road at the intersection with NW 59 Court

Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2020. The estimated cost of this project is $800,000.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this design public information workshop to discuss the proposed replacement of the El Clair Ranch Road Bridge over the Lake Worth Drainage District L-30 Canal.
 
The workshop will have an informal, open house format. No formal presentation will be made. Design plans and other pertinent materials will be on display. Project staff will be available to discuss the project, answer questions and address individual concerns.
 
This project includes:
  • Building a new bridge with two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction plus 5-foot shoulder/bike lanes and 6-foot sidewalks on both sides 
  • Reconstructing the adjacent roadway/approaches
  • Reconstructing the adjacent sidewalks
  • Installing new guardrail
 
Traffic impact during construction:
The bridge will be closed to traffic for 9 - 12 months during construction. A detour will be provided for the duration the closure.
 
Construction is expected to begin in September 2019 with completion anticipated in fall 2020. The estimated construction cost is $1.85 million.

Proposed improvements include:
Removing old asphalt and resurfacing  six general use travel lanes on I-75 in the project limits
Removing old asphalt and resurfacing the entrance and exit ramps at the I-75/Pine Boulevard interchange
Installing double face guardrail between the general purpose lanes and the express lanes
 
Construction of these improvements is anticipated to begin in summer 2019 with completion in _____________. The estimated construction cost of these improvements is $14 million.

The workshop will have an informal, open house format. No formal presentation will be made. Project plans and diagrams will be on display and staff will be available to discuss the project, answer questions and address individual concerns. 
 
The project includes:
  • Demolishing the existing bridge. During construction the bridge will be closed for 9 - 12 months. An detour route will be provided for the duration of construction.
  • Constructing a new bridge in the existing alignment with two 12-foot lanes, 5-foot shoulder/bike lanes on both sides and 6-foot sidewalks on both sides of the road
  • Installing new guardrails
  • Reconstructing the roadway approaches on both ends of the new bridge
Construction is scheduled to begin in September 2019 with anticipated completion in September 2020.  The estimated cost of this project is $1.04 million.

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding this design public meeting to discuss the proposed replacement of the New England Boulevard Bridge over the Lake Worth Drainage District (LWDD) E-1 Canal and the Sandalfoot Boulevard Bridge over the LWDD E-1-E Canal in Boca Raton.
 
The meeting will be conducted as an informal open house. No formal presentation will be made. Project plans, diagrams and other pertinent materials for both bridges will be on display. Staff will be available to discuss both projects, answer questions and address individual concerns.
 
Proposed New England Boulevard Bridge Improvements:
  • The new bridge will have two 12-foot travel lanes in each direction, 5-foot shoulders/bike lanes on both sides and 6.5-foot sidewalks on both sides
  • Reconstruction of the roadway at the bridge approaches
 
Proposed Sandalfoot Boulevard Bridge Improvements:
  • The new bridge will have four 11-foot travel lanes in each direction, a 10-foot median turn lane, 5-foot shoulder/bike lanes on both sides and 6.5-foot sidewalks on both sides 
  • Upgraded guardrails
  • Reconstruction of the roadway and sidewalk at the bridge approaches on both sides
Construction of this project is expected to begin in September 2019 with anticipated completion in September 2020. The estimated cost for the New England Bridge is $1.38 million. The estimated cost for the Sandalfoot Bridge is $1.79 million.
