Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) will hold a Public Kickoff Open House on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 (virtual) at 5:30 p.m. (EDT) and on Thursday, June 24, 2021 (in-person), at 5:30 p.m. (EDT) for the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study of the Poinciana Parkway Extension from County Road (CR) 532 to North of Interstate 4 (I-4)/State Road (SR) 429 Interchange. The Public Kickoff Open House is being held to give interested persons the opportunity to review preliminary project information, provide written comments, and speak with project staff.
 
Interested persons may participate in the virtual Public Kickoff Open House from a computer, tablet or phone on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
 
Interested persons may participate in the in-person Public Kickoff Open House by going to the AdventHealth Nicholson Center, 404 Celebration Place, Celebration, FL 34747 on Thursday, June 24, 2021.
 
If you wish to participate in the virtual Public Kickoff Open House, please visit the project website, www.PoincianaExtension.com, to register. Please note that registration works best in the Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, or Firefox web browser. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email that includes instructions on how to join the virtual Public Kickoff Open House online.  Participants may also join the virtual Public Kickoff Open House in listen-only mode by calling 1-631-992-3221 and entering the access code 863-570-658 when prompted. All participants, regardless of the platform they choose, will participate in the same virtual Public Kickoff Open House.
 
If you wish to participate in the in-person Public Kickoff Open House, the Department requests advance registration to help ensure attendees are accommodated safely in accordance with current social distancing guidelines. The virtual Public Kickoff Open House will begin with an informational video at 5:30 p.m. (EDT), on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, followed by a question-and-answer period. The in-person Public Kickoff Open House will begin at 5:30 p.m. (EDT), on Thursday, June 24, 2021.  The same informational video played at the virtual Public Kickoff Open House will also be available at the in-person Public Kickoff Open House.  Please note there will be no formal presentation at the virtual or the in-person Public Kickoff Open House. All Public Kickoff Open House materials, including project displays, are available on the project website at www.PoincianaExtension.com
 
Comments or questions about the project may be submitted via the Public Kickoff Open House registration form located on the project website, www.PoincianaExtension.com.  Those who are unable to participate in either the virtual or the in-person Public Kickoff Open House may submit comments about the project by contacting Stephanie Underwood, using the contact information provided below.  All comments received postmarked on or before July 12, 2021, will be included in the records for the Public Kickoff Open House.
 
The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) pursuant to 23 United States Code (U.S.C) § 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated December 14, 2016 and executed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and FDOT.
