On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District Four, you are invited to a Construction Open House to learn bout the planned improvements at the intersection of NW 136th Avenue at SR 84, near the I-595 interchange.  The project is located within the cities of Davie, Plantation, and Sunrise.  Project improvements include replacing and widening the existing bridge over the North New River Canal, adding a southbound through lane, bike lanes, right-turn lane westbound SR 84, and reconstructing the traffic separator under the I-595 overpass to increase vehicle storage for southbound to eastbound left turn movement at eastbound SR 84.
 
Notices are being send to all property owners and tenants within the construction corridor and to other public officials, regulatory agencies, organizations and individuals who expressed interest in the project.

Elected Official Briefing on I-95 Ramp Signal System

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), as part of the 95 Express Project in Broward County, has started to install ramp signals at some of the on-ramps to I-95.
 
FDOT is holding a series of one-hour briefings to provide elected officials and law enforcement officials in the I-95 corridor with an overview of the Ramp Signal System, how it works and the benefits the system provides.
 
Additional briefings will be held between 9 a.m. and 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, May 13 also at the Broward Traffic Management Center.
 
Ramp signals are traffic control devices that alternate between red and green flashing lights to control the rate at which vehicles enter the highway.
 
The Ramp Signal System is part of an overall congestion-relief plan, which, along with 95 Express, is helping I-95 become a safer, more efficient road to travel in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
 
Dates for the activation of the system have not yet been determined.

Unveiling of State Historical Marker at Woodlawn Cemetery

Woodlawn Cemetery serves as the final resting place for many of Fort Lauderdale's pioneering African-Americans, whose contributions played a significant role in the development of our city.

Construction Open House: SR 706/Indiantown Road Intersection Improvements

Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding the informal, open house to discuss upcoming improvements to be made at 14 intersections along State Road 706/Indiantown Road in the Town of Jupiter between Island Way to State Road 5/US 1.
 
No formal presentation will be made. Project plans will be on display and staff  will be on hand to discuss the improvements, the construction schedule and to answer questions. Interested persons may attend any time during the open house.
 
Improvements being made under this project include:
  • Installing new light poles at 11 intersections
  • Upgrading traffic signals at 14 intersection with vehicle detection cameras, microwave detectors and Bluetooth devices
  • Installing asphalt pavement, patterned pavement, signs and pavement markings at 10 intersections
 
Construction of these improvements is scheduled to begin May 8 with anticipated completion in Spring 2020. The construction cost of these improvements is $ 3.38 million.
 
Traffic impacts during construction:
  • Up to two lanes may be closed in each direction nightly between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday night through Thursday night
  • One lane may be closed in each direction weekdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times on one side of the road or the other

George Bush Boulevard from NE 2 Ave. to SR A1A

Purpose:
The purpose of this workshop is to learn about the proposed improvements to be made on George Bush Boulevard from NE 2 Avenue to State Road A1A.
 
The workshop will have an open house format and staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance at any time during the workshop.
 
The proposed improvements include:
  • Widening pavement between two and seven feet to accommodate designated bike lanes
  • Reducing the existing travel lanes from 12 feet to 10 feet
  • Constructing new sidewalk along the north side of the roadway
  • Widening the existing sidewalk along the south side of the roadway
  • Installing pedestrian lighting
Construction of these improvements is scheduled to begin in Spring 2021 with anticipated completion in Fall 2022. The estimated construction cost is $3.7 million
 
This project was prioritized and funded in part by the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency (TPA). The TPA is a federally-mandated agency that collaboratively plans, priorities  and funds transportation projects and services in Palm Beach County. The TPA seeks to establish a safe, efficient and connected multimodal transportation system and is investing over $200 million in the next five years to improve safety and access for pedestrians, bicyclists, public transit and motor vehicles.
