U.S. 90 Bridge Replacement Project Hybrid Public Meeting

Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a hybrid public meeting concerning the bridge replacement project on U.S. 90 over Chipola River in Jackson County on Tuesday, July 16, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. (CDT). Citizens are encouraged to attend the virtual meeting at www.nwflroads.com/calendar. Those who are unable to participate virtually may attend the meeting in-person at the Historic First National Bank, 2873-2877 Caledonia Street, Marianna. Pre-registration is required for the virtual format and encouraged for in-person attendees. The same materials will be presented for each format. The intent of this project is to replace the existing bridge on U.S. 90 over Chipola River. During construction, a temporary bridge and roadway will be built on the north side to allow construction of the new bridge to occur on the current location. Additional right of way is required. Bids for construction are scheduled to occur mid-2026. Maps, drawings, and other information will be on display. FDOT representatives will be available to discuss proposed improvements, answer questions, and receive comments. Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will host a Florida Beautification Grant Program workshop for local governments and community development organizations beginning 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at the FDOT Ponce De Leon Operations Center, 1723 Sunrise Circle, Ponce De Leon, Florida. The FDOT Grant Program, as defined in Rule Chapter 14-40, Part II, Florida Administrative Code, is a grant with a recommended match that will pay for landscaping along state rights of way. FDOT allows qualified agencies to apply for this annual beautification grant to enhance the attractiveness of roads on the State Transportation System. Applications for this year’s grant are due October 1. State Road 20 Project Development and Environment Study Hybrid Public Hearing

Purpose: The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a hybrid public hearing concerning the S.R. 20 PD&E Study in Washington and Bay counties on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. The hearing will begin with an open house from 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. (CDT) followed by a formal presentation and public comment period. Citizens are encouraged to attend the virtual hearing at www.nwflroads.com/calendar. Those who are unable to participate virtually may attend the hearing in-person at Sand Hills Assembly of God, 14032 Highway 77, Southport, FL 32409. Pre-registration is required for the virtual format and encouraged for in-person attendees. This hearing is being held to provide interested persons an opportunity to review the results of the study and to provide input on the preferred alternative. The purpose of this study is to consider reconstructing portions of S.R. 20 from S.R. 79 to U.S. 231 to enhance safety, add capacity, and address flooding issues. These improvements consist of widening the roadway from two to four lanes and elevating low-lying segments of the roadway prone to flooding. The total distance of this study is 27.2 miles. Design is partially funded. Right of way and construction are not funded at this time.
