Public Hearing Taylor Road (S.R. 15A) Improvements
District: Five
Meeting Type: Hearing
Date: Thursday, May 09, 2019
Time: 5:30 pm to N/A
Location Name: Wayne G. Sanborn Activity and Event Center
Street Address: 815 S. Alabama Ave.
City: DeLand
Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a public hearing regarding plans to improve safety along Taylor Road (S.R. 15A) from west of South Woodland Boulevard to west of South Adelle Avenue in Volusia County.

Planned safety improvements involve installing directional medians. This will restrict left turns out of some local roads and/or driveways onto Taylor Road (S.R. 15A).  Modifications like this improve safety in the area by reducing the number of conflict points for drivers. Locations for U-turns will be enhanced on Taylor Road between South Woodland Boulevard and South Adelle Avenue. Work also includes adding a traffic signal at South Clara Avenue, additional pedestrian improvements, and resurfacing Taylor Road within the project limits.

Improvements also involve operational and safety enhancements to the Taylor Road and South Woodland Boulevard intersection for vehicular and pedestrian traffic, which include raised medians for pedestrians and increased efficiency for right turn traffic from eastbound Taylor Road to southbound South Woodland Boulevard.

The hearing will be held Thursday, May 9, 2019, at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity and Event Center at 815 S. Alabama Ave., DeLand, FL, 32724. It begins with an open house at 5:30 p.m., where participants may review project documents and discuss the project with staff. There will be a brief presentation at 6 p.m., after which, participants may provide comments to all present. Before the scheduled meeting, the presentation video will be made available online at: http://www.cflroads.com/project/4414141/SR_15A_15_600_to_SR-15_from_US_17_92_to_Adelle_Ave.

Participants may also provide public comment directly to a court reporter at any time during the meeting. Written comments can be submitted at this hearing or by mail to; Gene Varano, FDOT Project Manager, 719 South Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, FL 32720 no later than May 20, 2019. Public Hearing W. Granada Blvd. (S.R. 40) at Interchange Blvd.
District: Five
Meeting Type: Hearing
Date: Tuesday, April 09, 2019
Time: 5:00 pm to N/A
Location Name: Coquina Presbyterian Church
Street Address: 2085 W. Granada Blvd.
City: Ormond Beach
Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a public hearing regarding proposed plans to improve safety on West Granada Boulevard (State Road (S.R.) 40) at the intersection with Interchange Boulevard.

Based on the recommendations of a study conducted in December 2018, FDOT is proposing to modify the existing full median opening at this intersection to a westbound directional opening. Improvements will still allow westbound traffic on West Granada Boulevard to turn left onto Interchange Boulevard, however, only right turns will be allowed out of Interchange Boulevard onto West Granada Boulevard. This modification improves safety in the area by reducing the number of conflict points at this location.

The public hearing will be Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at the Coquina Presbyterian Church, 2085 W. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL 32174. The hearing will begin as an informational open house at 5 p.m. where displays and other project information will be available for review. Staff also will be available to discuss the project and answer questions. A presentation will begin at 6 p.m., followed by public comments.

A court reporter will be present to record proceedings, and assist with comments, as part of the project record. Written comments can be submitted at the hearing, sent by mail to Dave Mixon, Florida Department of Transportation, 719 S. Woodland Boulevard M.S. 562, DeLand, FL 32720-6834; or emailed to Dave.Mixon@dot.state.fl.us no later than Friday, April 19, 2019. Public Hearing East Colonial Drive at Sherman Street
District: Five
Meeting Type: Hearing
Date: Tuesday, April 02, 2019
Time: 5:00 pm to N/A
Location Name: Family Christian Academy/Genesis Church
Street Address: 15060 Old Cheney Hwy.
City: Orlando
Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a public hearing regarding proposed plans to improve safety on East Colonial Drive (State Road (S.R.) 50) at the intersection with Sherman Street.

Based on the recommendations of a study conducted in November 2018, FDOT is proposing to modify the existing full median opening at this intersection to a westbound directional opening. This will allow westbound vehicles to still turn left onto Sherman Street, but will only allow right turns out of Sherman Street onto East Colonial Drive. This modification improves safety in the area by reducing the number of conflict points at this location.

The public hearing will be Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at the Family Christian Academy/Genesis Church, 15060 Old Cheney Hwy., Orlando, FL 32828.

562, DeLand, FL 32720-6834; or emailed to Dave.Mixon@dot.state.fl.us no later than Friday, April 12, 2019. All written and oral comments will become part of the project’s public record.

Public Hearing Gulf Atlantic Highway (S.R. 44) in Sumter County
District: Five
Meeting Type: Hearing
Date: Wednesday, March 27, 2019
Time: 5:00 pm to N/A
Location Name: Wildwood Community Center – Jefferson Room
Street Address: 6500 Powell Rd.
City: Wildwood
Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a public hearing regarding proposed plans to improve safety on Gulf Atlantic Highway (S.R. 44) between Main Street (U.S. 301) and Legion Avenue. The proposed improvement consists of two phases of construction, interim work and long-term improvements.

The interim work consists of the installation of “Quick-Curb” with delineator posts east of the Main Street intersection. This work is anticipated to take place in late 2019/early 2020. The proposed long-term improvements involve the construction of an additional westbound left turn lane at the Main Street intersection and construction of a concrete median from Main Street to west of Legion Avenue, with a bi-directional opening at the Wildwood Townehomes area. This type of median opening allows left turns from Gulf Atlantic Highway into the driveways, but will only allow right turns out of those driveways. Construction of the long-term improvements is expected to begin in early 2022 as part of a resurfacing project.

The public hearing will be Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Wildwood Community Center – Jefferson Room, 6500 Powell Rd., Wildwood, FL 34785. The hearing will begin as an informational open house at 5 p.m. where displays and other project information will be available for review. Community Liaisons Group Meeting on Robinson Street Corridor Study
District: Five
Meeting Type: Workshop

Time: 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Location Name: Orlando City Hall, Veteran’s Conference Room
Street Address: 400 S Orange Ave., 2nd Floor
City: Orlando
Purpose:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is conducting a concept development study on the Robinson Street corridor between Hughey Avenue and Maguire Boulevard in the City of Orlando. This study is being undertaken by the FDOT in partnership with the City of Orlando. In the Spring of 2017, FDOT completed a planning study for the Robinson Street corridor, with broad input from corridor stakeholders and the public. The planning study identified and evaluated a full range of strategies to address multimodal safety and mobility along Robinson Street. The preferred alternatives identified in the planning study address the varying needs of each of the character districts along the corridor. This concept development study included an engineering analysis of the alternatives previously identified and will determine the best solution that may be advanced for design and construction. [Design and construction phases for Robinson Street are currently not funded.]

The meeting is with the Robinson Street Community Liaisons Group (CLG) to review the latest concept development plans. The CLG is made up of representatives from the neighborhoods, schools, large employers, and other stakeholders along Robinson Street. It is not an independent decision-making board. The CLG has served as a liaison between the FDOT study team and the broader community as part of the study’s planning phase.

Persons desiring to submit written statements in place of or in addition to oral statements may do so at the meeting or by sending them to Heather Garcia, FDOT Planning Manager, 719 South Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, FL 32720 or by e-mail to heather.garcia@dot.state.fl.us.
