The project will begin construction in June 2023. Purpose: State Road (SR) 5/US 1 at SR 838/Sunrise Boulevard From East to West along SR 5/US 1/Federal Highway and SR 838/Sunrise Boulevard Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study Broward County, Florida Financial Project Identification Number: 441955-1-22-02 Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) Number: 14499 On behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), you and your staff are invited to the First Alternatives Public Workshop for the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for the above referenced project. A PD&E Study is FDOT’s process to evaluate the social, economic, and environmental impacts associated with a planned transportation improvement project. The purpose of this project is to improve intersection capacity and address future traffic demand. The project will also improve safety and enhance modal interrelationships with bicycle, pedestrian, and transit modes. The environmental review, consultation, and other actions required by applicable federal environmental laws for this project are being, or have been, carried out by FDOT pursuant to 23 U.S.C. § 327 and a Memorandum of Understanding dated May 26,2022, and executed by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and FDOT. The First Alternatives Public Workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, June 21, 2023 (In-Person), and Thursday, June 22, 2023 (Virtual). There are two ways to participate in the meeting: ¿ In-Person: The First Alternatives Public Workshop will be held at ArtServe located at 1350 East Sunrise Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33304 on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. The First Alternatives Public Workshop will begin at 5:30 p.m. ¿ Virtual: Persons who do not wish to attend the First Alternatives Public Workshop in person can join the workshop virtually at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
